This comment from Putin came when his own country has been fighting a war against Ukraine since 24 February 2022. The Russian President said the use of heavy weapons in residential areas is fraught with severe consequences for all parties. “Most importantly, civilian casualties would be unacceptable,” he said. Now, the main thing is to stop the bloodshed.
Earlier on Wednesday, Putin had criticized America’s role in the crisis caused by Hamas’ attack on southern Israel. Putin blamed the Israel-Palestine dispute on America and said it showed American policy’s failure in West Asia.
Putin said the US had tried establishing a “monopoly” on international peacekeeping efforts. He accused Washington of ignoring agreements acceptable to both sides.
Putin said that America has ignored the interests of Palestinians. He also stressed the need for an independent Palestinian state. However, for years, Putin has not mentioned Russia’s role in the Middle East peace process.
