US Announces A Package Of $2.1 Billion In Military Aid To Ukraine

The headquarters of the US Department of Defense announced Friday an additional $2.1 billion in long-term arms assistance to Ukraine.

The new aid package includes funding for more Patriot missiles, Hawk air defence systems and missiles, and the smaller Puma drone.

There have been indications that Ukraine is about to launch a much-anticipated retaliatory offensive to regain control of its territory annexed by Russia.

The Pentagon said that the package reflects the United States continued commitment to strengthening the Ukrainian armed forces’ ability to defend Ukraine’s territory and resist Russian aggression over the long term.

The assistance also includes munitions for laser-guided missiles, an unknown number of artillery shells, and funding for training and maintenance support.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, it is noteworthy that the US has provided Kyiv with $ 37.6 billion in aid.
