Putin Claims Ukraine Rejected Peace Deal, Dumped It in ‘Dustbin of History’

Russian President Putin has made a big disclosure. Vladimir Putin has claimed that Zelensky’s representative had signed a peace treaty with Moscow to end the war.

Russian President Putin alleged that Kyiv later dumped it in the “dustbin of history”. Putin made the remarks during a meeting with leaders of the African Union, led by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, at the Konstantinovsky Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The leaders of South Africa, Senegal, Egypt, Zambia, Uganda, the Republic of the Congo and the Comoro Islands attended the meeting. In this meeting, Putin claimed that the two countries in Istanbul signed a peace treaty during Russia’s initial invasion of Ukraine in the spring of 2022.

According to Putin, Turkey had taken the initiative to start talks between the two sides. According to this agreement, if the Russian army returns from Kyiv, Ukraine will accept certain conditions of Russia.

Vladimir Putin also showed African leaders the alleged treaty draft in Istanbul. According to this draft, Russia was to withdraw its forces from northern Ukraine, i.e., Kyiv and its surrounding areas.

In return, Ukraine had to reduce its military capacity by fifty percent. Additionally, Ukraine did not have to try to become a member of NATO. Ukraine had to remain a neutral country and accept the condition of having equal relations with Russia and European countries.

According to Putin’s claim, the Ukrainian representative also signed the agreement. Putin said that this agreement was a guarantee of Ukraine’s security. Putin said he never showed this agreement to other countries or commented on it.

Putin said Russia accepted the accord’s terms earlier and withdrew troops from Kyiv. But Ukraine subsequently rejected the peace deal. Vladimir Putin asked questioningly, “Where is the guarantee that they will not abandon any other agreement in the future?” Kyiv has not given any reaction to Putin’s claim.
