For the first time in the Russia-Ukraine war, both sides have reached an agreement. Under this agreement, Ukraine has released 248 Russian soldiers. This agreement between Russia and Ukraine has been possible due to the mediation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). “Thanks to the mediation of the UAE, Ukraine has released 248 captured Russian soldiers,” Russia’s Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The Defense Ministry said on January 3, after much effort, Ukraine released the soldiers. We appreciate the efforts made by the UAE for humanity. Army aircraft will be sent to the discharged soldiers, and they will be treated.
Russia Is Not Averse To ‘Exchange’ Of Soldiers?
For the first time, Ukraine and Russia are talking at the level of agreement amid a fierce war for almost 2 years. The stance of both countries regarding war has become softer than before. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vasilievich said, “We are not against the exchange of captured soldiers with Ukraine; we have no qualms if the Red Cross mediates in this.”

How Many Soldiers Did Russia Leave?
Russia has released 230 Ukrainian soldiers under this agreement. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on Twitter, “We have freed 230 soldiers from Russian captivity.” However, this is not happening for the first time. Even before this, such a deal has been made 48 times in which Ukraine has released about 2500 soldiers from Russia, but this is the first time that a deal for the release of soldiers on such a large scale has been made.
Despite all of the challenges, we have good news today. 230 freed people.
Initially, there was no information about some of them being held captive. They were considered missing in action. It is critical to keep hope alive.
