Russia Fails To Stop Ukraine Drone Attacks; Vladimir Putin May Lose Grip On Kremlin

The strong power of Russian President Vladimir Putin now seems to be weakening. He is facing attacks on his borders ranging from drone attacks on Moscow. In the war that started last year, Russia attacked Kyiv, but now Ukraine is targeting Moscow by entering Russia. Experts are warning that the wave of attacks could seriously undermine Putin’s grip on power as discontent spreads among the Russian elite and those who once thought they were safe.

The Sun reports that Dr Christian Gustafsson, a security expert at Brunel University, has warned that Putin could be ‘in trouble’ if things keep going. He argued that these attacks would fuel infighting in the Kremlin, spark discontent among the ruling elite in Moscow, and lead people to question Putin’s plan. The new attacks on Russia have already horrified the Kremlin. Pro-Ukraine militants are launching tank attacks on border areas, shelling towns and forcing Russians to flee.

‘Ukraine Gains Edge In War’

Dr Gustafsson said, “Ukraine has gained an edge in this war game.” The expert claimed that these attacks would make Putin’s position vulnerable. Local officials reported on Friday that Ukraine’s air forces shot down more than 30 Russian cruise missiles and drones in Kyiv in Russia’s sixth attack in six days. Senior Kyiv official Serhiy Popko wrote in a telegram that the Ukrainian capital was simultaneously attacked from different directions by Iranian-made Shaheed drones and cruise missiles from the Caspian region.

Russia’s Strategy May Backfire

Drone and missile attacks were carried out on Kyiv for 17 days last month. These include attacks carried out in broad daylight. According to the Washington-run think tank ‘Institute for the Study of War’, Russia’s strategy may backfire. Ukraine’s chief of staff, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, said Ukraine’s air defence forces intercepted all 15 cruise missiles and 21 drone attacks. At the same time, firing is again from Ukraine in the border areas of Russia. Recent cross-border attacks have shaken these regions of Russia and put them on high alert.
