PM Rishi Sunak Announced The Date Of General Elections, Know When Voting Will Take Place

The general elections in the United Kingdom (Britain) have been announced. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced on Wednesday that general elections will be held in Britain on July 4. In a statement, 44-year-old PM Rishi Sunak said, ‘Earlier today, I spoke to His Majesty the King to request the dissolution of Parliament. The King has accepted this request, and we will have general elections on July 4.’

PM Rishi Sunak announced the date of the parliamentary elections while standing outside his Downing Street office. He said he is conducting general elections in the country earlier than many think, a bold move considering his party lags in the polls.

PM Sunak Targeted The Opposition

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak recently announced that general elections will be held in the second half of this year. He also gave much good news about the country’s economy in the British Parliament, saying that the inflation rate is expected to come down to 2.30 per cent.

In his speech, the British PM also fiercely targeted the opposition’s Labor Party. He said the opposition party will endanger the country’s economy. Let us tell you that after being appointed the leader of the largest party in Parliament by Conservative MPs in October 2022, this voting will be the first time that Sunak will face the public as Prime Minister. Enumerating the achievements of his government, PM Sunak said that now is the time for Britain to choose its future.

Rishi Sunak Enumerated The Benefits Of Government Schemes

He also discussed his government’s so-called schemes that supported businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is noteworthy that this is the third time after the Brexit referendum 2016 that PM Sunak wants to take advantage of better economic data to woo voters. One of the ex-financier’s key promises was to halve inflation within a year from a record high of more than 11 percent at the end of 2022.

In March, inflation fell to a three-year low of 2.3 percent. Minister Jeremy Hunt said this is proof that the plan is working. Meanwhile, experts who know British politics closely say Sunak, lagging behind the opposition Labor Party in the elections, may get an edge due to better economic conditions.
