A video of former Pakistan Army Chief General (Retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa and his wife is becoming increasingly viral on social media, where he is seen holidaying in a European country. In the video, both can be seen sitting on the stairs and using mobile phones when the unidentified man comes forward and starts abusing the former army chief in his native language.
The rowdy person is said to be a citizen of Afghanistan. Despite his aggressive behaviour and use of profanity, the former army chief kept his cool and ignored him. Sources could not confirm when and where this video was recorded. However, social media users condemned the aggressive and unethical attitude of the man, claiming that the incident occurred in France.
General Bajwa retired as the Army Chief in November 2022 after serving in the office for six years. Before he was appointed the Chief of Army Staff in November 2016, General Bajwa served as the Inspector General of Training and Evaluation at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
General Bajwa commands the X Corps (Rawalpindi Corps), which is responsible for the country’s most sensitive areas and plays an important role due to having jurisdiction over almost the entire border with India. The whole defence establishment, including the Army, Navy and Air Force Headquarters and the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, are also responsible for the X Corps.
