Nikki Haley Says “Trump Not Right Person” for President, Despite Strong Poll Numbers

Indian-American Nikki Haley, a strong contender in the Republican presidential primary race, does not think her rival, Donald Trump, is the right person to become President. During the fourth Republican debate on December 6, former South Carolina Governor Haley did not answer whether Trump was fit to be President. However, she told ABC News it’s not about fitness but that Trump is not the right person to be President.

“It’s not about fitness,” Haley said in an interview Monday. Should he be President? I don’t think he should be President. I felt he was the right President at the right time.” She said, “We have to look at the issues ahead and develop new solutions instead of focusing on the negativity and burden of the past. It’s not about staying fit. It’s just that I don’t think he’s the right person to be President.”

‘We Cannot Afford Anarchy’

Trump has maintained an unprecedented lead over his rivals in early state and national polls, with 61 per cent of Republicans saying they would vote in the nominating contest for the former President in the state, according to a recent Reuters Ipsos opinion poll.

In an interview with CNN this week, Haley said that while she recognizes Trump’s strong voter support, “chaos” will continue to follow him. “I think President Trump was the right president at the right time,” Haley told CNN. I agree with many of his policies, but anarchy follows him. We cannot afford four more years of anarchy.”

However, in the first Republican debate, Haley indicated that she would support her former boss as her party’s nominee for the 2024 race, even if he were convicted of a felony. “I’m not with him 100 per cent,” he told ABC. I am not 100 per cent against them, either. It’s not personal to me. It’s about what’s suitable for the country.

Haley recently got a big boost in the presidential race with the endorsement of New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu. He called her ‘a candidate with the potential to win and get our party back on track to deliver conservative victories across the country.’
