Sikh Boy Attacked in America for Wearing Turban, Accused Says “We Don’t Allow It To Be Worn Here”

A case of beating of a minor Sikh wearing a turban has come to light in America. According to media reports, a minor wearing a turban was travelling in the bus. Meanwhile, a 26-year-old American attacked the minor. After getting information about the case, the police arrested the accused under sections related to hate crimes.

According to police, the accused, Christopher Filippo, was arrested on Thursday. According to CBS News, the accused has been to jail before. After being in prison for two years, he was released conditionally on parole in July 2021. Once again, the accused attacked a minor on October 15 near 118th Street and Liberty Avenue in Queens.

The Accused Tried To Remove His Turban Forcibly

According to police, Filippo approached the Sikh boy on a New York City MTA bus, referring to his turban and saying, “We don’t wear it in this country.” The accused asked the minor to remove his turban. According to the police, the accused attacked the minor with a punch on his face, back and back of the head. After the beating, the minor suffered deep injuries on his face and head. It is said that the accused tried to remove the turban from the minor’s head forcibly.

After the attack on the American youth, the Sikh victim said on Wednesday that he was shocked and angry by this attack. The minor said that no one should be harassed because of how they look.
