Facebook’s owner company Meta is once again preparing to make a big layoff next week. According to Vox’s report, these layoffs will affect Meta’s business department, and around 6000 employees may lose their jobs. This will be the third round of layoffs in the company, in which more than 15,000 employees have been laid off.
Nick Clegg, Meta’s president of global affairs, said a third round of layoffs is set to begin next week. This will affect everyone in the business team, including my team. While the exact number has not been confirmed, the company is expected to lay off around 6,000 employees in this round.
Earlier in March, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company planned to cut 10,000 more jobs by the end of May after eliminating 11,000 in November last year. The tech giant last month cut nearly 4,000 positions out of 10,000. The report states that Meta will have around 86,000 employees at the end of 2022.
In April, Meta laid off nearly its entire team created to combat misinformation. Most of the team responsible for combating fake news on Facebook and Instagram has been sacked, according to ‘Command Line’ by The Verge’s Alex Heath. The team size was around 50 people, the report said.
