Why Germany Got Angry On India-Russia, Defense Minister Said This

Germany-India Relation: The new Defense Minister of Germany, Boris Pistorius, will visit India. During an interview on Monday (June 5), while talking about India’s arms supply, Boris Pistorius said that India’s dependence on Russian weapons is not in Germany’s interest. India has long been dependent on Russia for its defense needs.

Explain that India is dependent on Russia for arms, and now, after Russia’s war with Ukraine, India is also buying crude oil from Russia at cheap prices.

Possibility Of Selling Submarine To India

During an interview in Indonesia’s capital Jakarta, Boris Pistorius said that Germany could not change this situation (India’s dependence on Russia) on its own. This is an issue that we have to address jointly with other partners.

We do not want India to be so dependent on Russia for arms and other things for a long time. He said I want to indicate that we are ready to support our partners. For example, we can sell submarines to India.

Which Weapons Does India Buy From Russia?

The relationship between India and Russia is well known. India has continuously bought oil from Russia despite global pressure during the Russia-Ukraine war. Western countries also tried to put pressure on India regarding this. However, India has been more dependent on buying arms from Russia.

  • India also buys transport planes and helicopters from Russia, including Antono AN-32, MI-35 and MI-17V helicopters.
  • The Indian Army uses Russian tanks T 72 and T90.
  • The Indian Navy uses IL-38 and Kamov K-31 helicopters for surveillance at sea.
