Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi left for America on Tuesday. This American visit of PM Modi is considered historic. Meanwhile, the President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Csaba Korosi, has given a big statement regarding India. In his latest interview, he said a country like India should be a permanent United Nations Security Council member.
Significantly, even before this, India’s demand to join the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has been made many times. This statement of Csaba Korosi is considered very important in such a situation. Advocating India as a permanent member of the Security Council, he has said that there is a perception among the member states that there is a need for better representatives in the Security Council.
UNSC Will Improve In Future
In an interview with ANI on Monday, UNGA President Csaba Korosi said there is a great need for countries in the United Nations Security Council that have great responsibility for the peace and well-being of people. In such a situation, India is one of those countries which can contribute to the betterment of the world. Csaba further said that when the UNSC was formed, India was not one of the biggest names. But today, India has reached that stage. He further said that the UNSC will be reformed in the future.
Talks Are Going On About Possible Improvement
He claimed that the process of talks regarding reforms has been going on for 13 years. The first discussions on the possible need for reform of the Security Council began 40 years ago. So it’s the best time to discuss it now. Still, it’s in the hands of the member states if the member countries can agree on how to reform the Security Council, such as in terms of its functioning, in terms of membership, in terms of permanent members, in terms of veto rights, etc. You can go ahead.
India A Superpower
He further said India is probably one of the most active countries raising voices for reforms in the Security Council. Not only this, he declared India as a potential superpower of the future. During this, the UNGA chief said India is moving fast in population, economy, science and technology. Speaking on PM Modi, Csaba Korosi said he is a visionary with sound strategic thinking. He brought a very deep vision of the nation and a clear vision of modern India.
