China has created a stir in the internet world. Chinese companies have achieved an unprecedented feat by launching the fastest internet network in the world. According to some reports, Chinese companies have reached a 1.2 terabits per second data transmission rate.
China Morning Post said in its report that this internet speed is more than ten times that of the current major internet routes. The rate of this internet can be estimated so that 150 HD movies can be downloaded in just one second.
This project has been completed in collaboration with Tsinghua University, China Mobile, Huawei Technologies and Cerner Corporation. It was estimated that China would be able to achieve this internet speed in 2025, but Chinese companies have achieved this success two years ahead of time.
It has been named the Backbone Network, which extends to Beijing in the north, Wuhan in central China and the southern province of Guangdong. This project is spread over 3,000 kilometres, and an optical fibre cabling system has been used. It was activated in July and officially launched Monday after all operational tests were passed.
Earlier, tech experts worldwide predicted that 1 terabit per second ultra-high-speed network would not be achieved by 2025, but China has once again surprised the world.
Wu Jianping, project leader of FITI from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, commented that the superfast line is a successful operation and provides advanced technology to build China’s even faster internet.
Most of the world’s Internet backbone networks operate at only 100 gigabits per second. Even in America, the fifth-generation internet works at 400 gigabits per second.
