China’s Foreign Minister Qin Gang has been in constant discussion for a few days. Some reports have claimed that the Chinese Foreign Minister has not appeared publicly for the last 24 days. People are making all kinds of speculations about the disappearance of the Foreign Minister.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Foreign Ministry has also stated in this regard. On Thursday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said they still do not have any information to share about Foreign Minister Qin Gang’s absence.
Earlier, the Chinese Foreign Ministry had announced that Qin Gang would not attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meeting in Jakarta on July 11-12. The ministry said Qin Gang has been absent from public appearances due to ill health.
On Wednesday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that Qin Gang’s predecessor Wang Yi will represent China at the BRICS summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, next week.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry has since deflected questions from journalists at daily briefings and declined to provide any further details on the foreign minister’s absence.
Qin Gang is considered a rising star in Chinese politics. He was a former aide to President Xi Jinping. Jinping had so much faith in him that he posted Qin in America. He was appointed foreign minister in December after working in the US for nearly two years.
There is a discussion on social media that the Chinese Foreign Minister is having an affair with Fu Xiaotian, a famous TV anchor in the country. After this was revealed, he was removed from the post. It is being said that his affair with an American journalist is not new. He has known her since his time as China’s ambassador to the US.
Fu Xiaotian also gave birth to a child last year. A few months ago, a tweet by Fu Xiaotian went viral, in which she posted a photo with her newborn baby. In this, she had put the caption ‘A winning start’. This was the same time when Qin took over the responsibility of the State Councillor.
This led some to speculate that she was congratulating the foreign minister. It is also being said that the child belongs to the Foreign Minister only because, till now, the TV anchor has not revealed who is the father of that child.
On March 19 this year, the Chinese anchor posted a birthday wish on her wall without naming anyone. Since Qin was born on March 19, 1966, people assumed that the greeting was going to the Secretary of State.
Meanwhile, some media reports have claimed President Xi Jinping may soon appoint Ma Zhaoxu as the new foreign minister. He is a senior diplomat and holds the number two position in the Ministry of External Affairs.
