Get Rid Of WhatsApp Spam Calls And Messages; Truecaller Will End This Hassle

Online scams are on the rise in India. Scammers are reaching out to people through calls, SMS and even instant messaging apps to trick them. WhatsApp is one of the most common messaging apps used to scam people. Let us tell you that there are about 500 million monthly active users of WhatsApp in India. However, to tackle the growing number of WhatsApp scams, Truecaller has joined with Meta to help users identify and block spam messages on the platform.

It Will Be Rolled Out Globally Later In May

Caller ID and Spam Blocking Software- Truecaller is planning to make its caller identification service available on WhatsApp and other messaging apps to help users spot potential spam calls on the Internet. The feature, currently in the beta phase, will be rolled out globally in May, Truecaller Chief Executive Officer Alan Mamedi told Reuters.

According to the report, Truecaller plans to launch a caller identification feature for WhatsApp and other messaging apps in May. This feature will help users to identify and block spam messages.

AI Will Filter Telemarketing Calls

Truecaller co-founder and CEO Alan Mamedi said spam calls are a big problem in countries like India, where users receive an average of 17 unknown calls every month. He added that Truecaller is working with telecom operators such as Reliance Jio and Airtel to develop a solution that uses AI to filter telemarketing calls on their networks. “Over the past two weeks, we’ve seen a spike in user reports from India about spam calls on WhatsApp,” Mamedi said.

According to a 2021 report by Truecaller, India is one of the countries where users face many telemarketing and scamming calls. On average, users receive about 17 spam calls per month. To address this issue, the telecom regulator in India has asked companies like Jio and Airtel to use AI filters to block unwanted calls on their networks. Truecaller has also said it is working with telecom operators to implement such a solution.

Truecaller uses its spam detection technology to identify and take action against such callers and allows users to block and report them.

Notably, the new ID detection feature is available in the beta version and will be available to everyone in future app updates. Users who want to try this feature can join as beta testers to test the new feature.
