Online Shopping: Amazon and Flipkart are India’s most popular e-commerce websites. There were many reports of wrong goods being shipped to the customers on both websites. On one side, the customer got a bar of soap instead of an iPhone; on the other, he got a brick. To fight this online delivery fraud, websites have introduced a one-time password delivery process.
What is OTP Delivery
This is great for the customers. Customers are only asked to share the OTP with the delivery agent after checking their package. On the one hand, where the companies are trying to secure the delivery process; on the other hand, scammers have created a scam in it. Let’s know about this new scam…
What Is New Scam
Many cases of new scams have come to the fore. Scammers pose as delivery agents and go to the customer’s doorstep asking for OTP from people before delivery. Most are aware and refuse to give OTP. But some people share OTP. After that, scammers clone their phones and access bank account and data.
Many times scammers also contact the neighbours of the target person and ask them to call that person and give OTP or make payment. At that time, the person does not want to disturb the neighbour and gives OTP.
Be Careful Like This
- Never share OTP with anyone. If in doubt, call Custer Care immediately.
- If a delivery boy asks for a PIN, verify that person’s identity. Companies often message details before the goods are delivered.
- Never pay money before opening the parcel.
- If someone sends a link, do not click on it.
- If you receive a suspicious delivery, do not accept it.
