More Than 300 Banks Hit By Cyber Attack, UPI-ATM Service Disrupted

Cyber ​​Attack on Banks: Technology service provider C-Edge Technologies has been cyberattacked. Due to this, banking-related work of about 300 small banks and financial institutions across the country has reached a standstill. Customers are not able to withdraw money from ATMs. At the same time, problems are also being faced in transferring amounts through UPI.

Officials have provided information on this matter. According to media reports, these technical problems have not affected the customers of cooperative banks and rural regional banks, which depend on SBI and TCS’s joint venture, C-Edge Technologies. However, other banking services are running normally.

This has been a problem for the last two days since the hacking of the C-Edge Technologies system was detected. According to officials, the C-Edge system had to be separated for the security of the big payment system. Along with this, necessary precautions have also been taken. National Cooperative Union of India chairman Dileep Sanghani said that about 300 banks across the country, including 17 district cooperative banks of Gujarat, have been facing problems for the last two to three days. He said that banks have been facing issues since July 29, and the software company officials call it a technical fault.

After this, on April 29, 2019, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh State Power Utility was attacked by ransomware. Hackers took complete control of the system and demanded a ransom through Bitcoin. However, the system was later restored.
