There is good news for iPhone users. Apple will distribute Rs 290 crore as compensation to its customers using these two iPhone models. Apple has agreed to settle the US class action lawsuit, in which the company will pay $35 million, or about Rs 290 crore, to iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus users who suffer from audio problems due to the defective chip in the device.

According to a MacRumors report, the company has emailed eligible customers. Users eligible for Apple payments must have an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus between September 16, 2016 and January 3, 2023.
There must also be a documented complaint with Apple regarding speaker problems, or users must have paid Apple to repair or replace the device. The last date to choose a payment method, object to the settlement or opt out is June 3.

The report said that the proposed settlement, which needs to be approved by the California court on July 18, would allow Apple to pay up to $349 (about Rs. 30 thousand) to those who paid out of their pocket and $125 (about Rs. 10 thousand) to others. Despite agreeing to the settlement, Apple denied all allegations of wrongdoing, and the court hearing the case has not ruled in Apple’s favour. Meanwhile, Apple has demanded that Fortnite creator Epic Games pay them more than $73 million for legal fees amid the ongoing dispute over App Store payment methods.
On January 16, the US Supreme Court declined to consider either party’s appeal, ending a three-year legal battle between Epic Games and Apple, Apple Insider reports. But, after the case ended, Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers ruled that Epic Games owed Apple $73 million in legal fees and other costs.
