Government Of India’s Digital Strike, Blocked These 14 Mobile Messenger Apps

Taking a big step, the Central Government has blocked 14 mobile messenger apps. Through these mobile messenger apps, terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir used to send secret messages to the Over Ground Worker (OGW). According to the news, the central government has taken this strict step after the recommendation of defence forces, security, intelligence and investigation agencies.

These Apps Were Blocked

The messenger apps that have been blocked include the names Cryptvisor, Enigma, SafeSwiss, Vikrame, Mediafire, Briar, Beechat, Nandbox, Conion, IMO, Element, Second Line, Jangi and Threema. According to intelligence sources, through these apps, the handlers of terrorists sitting in Pakistan used to send coded messages to their operatives living in Jammu and Kashmir. Intelligence agencies have been keeping an eye on this for a long time.

Terrorists Were Using

Investigations by multiple intelligence agencies revealed that terrorists were using the apps to communicate with their supporters and on-ground workers (OGWs) in Kashmir. The government found that these apps did not have representatives in India, and as per Indian laws, they could not be contacted to seek information. The agencies also tried to get the management on several occasions.

The Government Has Already Banned Many Apps

In February this year, the Government of India banned about 125 apps for loans and betting with connections to the Chinese. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has taken action on these apps. The Government of India banned 138 betting and 94 loan-giving apps, threatening India’s security and integrity.

Most apps were not available on the Play Store for download on the smartphone, but the report states that betting apps and games can be downloaded from third-party links or websites. Many apps can also be played online directly from social media sites.
