Apple Will Soon Launch Foldable iPhone, These Details Regarding Production Revealed

According to a new investor note from Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu in a report from 9to5Mac, Apple is accelerating work on its foldable devices, including a 20.3-inch MacBook and a foldable iPhone. The analyst also said the 20.3-inch foldable device will be mass-produced and released in 2026 or 2027. Meanwhile, mass production of the foldable iPhone is expected to begin in late 2026.

The analyst said Apple’s foldable devices would be a new product series targeting the “ultra-high-end market.” Pu also noted that Apple is exploring two screen sizes for its new foldable iPhones, including 7.9-inch and 8.3-inch.

Earlier, analyst Ming-Chi-Kuo reported that Apple is working on a 20.3-inch foldable MacBook but may not release it until 2027. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman also recently claimed that Apple is “exploring a dual-screen, foldable MacBook/iPad hybrid.”

A recent report from Patently Apple revealed that Apple filed a patent with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) last October for a hinge that would be used in foldable devices. The patent shows that Apple’s foldable could fold inward and outward, offering greater mobility than any other mass-market product. However, the patent is intentionally broad, meaning that the patented hinge can be applied to phones, laptops, tablets, or other portable electronics.

In other news, Apple is holding its ‘Let Loose’ event on May 7, during which the company may introduce some much-needed upgrades to its iPad lineup. The Tim Cook-led company may introduce its first M4 chipset with the iPad Pro variant, which can also be upgraded with an OLED display. Meanwhile, the iPad Air version may get a larger 12.9-inch screen previously reserved for the Pro lineup.
