AMD to Invest $400 Million in India; New Campus to Create 3,000 Jobs

Veteran chip maker and technology company AMD will invest $400 million in India in the next five years. The company announced this on Friday. Under this, AMD will open a new AMD campus in Bengaluru to expand research, development and engineering operations in India. This campus will serve as the biggest design centre of the company.

Campus Will Open By The End Of This Year

According to the news, AMD will add about 3,000 new engineering roles by the end of the year 2028. The company has also indicated that this new centre will open by the end of this year. According to the news of IANS, Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajeev Chandrasekhar, it was said in a statement that he would like to encourage AMD to set up its largest R&D design centre in India and expand the India-AMD partnership. I welcome the decision. Chandrasekhar says it will provide tremendous opportunities for our large pool of high-skill semiconductor engineers and researchers. “Due to advances in artificial intelligence, networking and 6G communications, AMD has one of the broadest product portfolios in the industry, and our India teams are among the best in the world,” Mark Peppermaster, AMD’s executive vice president and chief technology officer, said in a statement.

AMD will continue to play an important role in providing high-performance and customized solutions that support customers worldwide. The new 5,00,000-square-foot Bengaluru campus will bring AMD’s office presence to 10 locations in these cities – Bengaluru, Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
