Women’s IPL Will Be Auctioned On This Day; Money Will Be Showered On 409 Players

Women’s Premier League 2023: The auction date for the first season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) has been announced. Along with this, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also announced the dates for when this tournament will be played. BCCI has said that the first auction of WPL will be held in Mumbai on 13 February.

It has also been told that the first season of this Women’s Premier League will be played from 4 to 26 March. Twenty-two matches will be played in this tournament. All games will be played at Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.

246 Out Of 409 Players, Indian

BCCI said that 1525 players had registered for the first WPL auction, out of which 409 female players have been shortlisted. Of these, 246 players are Indians, while 163 women players are foreigners. Of these also, eight players are from associate countries.

The first auction for the Women’s Premier League will feature 202 capped women players. At the same time, 199 players have been included uncapped. There will be five teams in the first Women’s Premier League season, with 90 slots vacant. That is, out of 409, only 90 players will be auctioned. In these, too, a maximum of 30 places will remain empty for foreign players.

11 Indians In The Rs 50 Lakh Category

A maximum base price of Rs 50 lakh in the first auction for WPL. 24 players have been kept in this category. In this slot, 11 Indian players, including Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Under-19 World Cup winning team captain Shefali Verma have found a place in this category, while 13 players are foreigners.

Apart from these, 30 players have been placed in the base price category of Rs 40 lakh. The remaining women players are in the bottom price category of Rs 30 lakh. According to the BCCI, the auction for this WPL will start at 2.30 pm.
