Vinesh Phogat Medal Decision Delayed Again, Verdict On August 16

Paris Olympics 2024: Will Vinesh Phogat get a wrestling medal in the Paris Olympics or not? We will have to wait three more days to decide. CAS announced that it would now make its decision on August 16. Indian fans’ wait is increasing continuously. The court is constantly giving dates to give its verdict in this matter.

Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat entered the final in 50 kg freestyle wrestling on August 6 at the Paris Olympics. Phogat had confirmed her silver medal by winning three consecutive matches. But before the final match for gold, Vinesh Phogat was disqualified due to being 100 grams overweight.

Vinesh Phogat Had Appealed In The CAS Court

Vinesh Phogat, who had confirmed her silver medal before being disqualified, has appealed to CAS for her medal. The Indian wrestler told the court that her silver medal was confirmed when she reached the final. At that time, her weight was also within the prescribed limit. Her weight increased before playing the final. Since his weight was normal when the silver medal was confirmed, she should be given the silver medal. CAS accepted this appeal but continuously gave dates for the decision.

Dr. Annabelle Bennett, AC SC of CAS Court, said that she would give the decision on August 10. But instead of giving the decision on that day, she again extended the date. After that, she fixed the date for the decision to be made on August 13. But the court has again prolonged the wait and has chosen August 16 as the date for taking the decision.
