Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has mastered taking and breaking retirement. Now Afridi wants to return to the cricket field once again. Afridi wants to participate in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023. Afridi played last season for Quetta Gladiators, but he had to be ruled out in the middle of the tournament due to a back injury. A few days later, he retired from PSL.
The 42-year-old Afridi said he had the best time in PSL with Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans and is open to joining any franchise for the upcoming season. Afridi said I don’t know where I will go. If someone offers a franchise, I will go with it. I will work because it is about Pakistan.
When asked which side he enjoyed playing with the most, the cricketer replied, I had a great time with Peshawar Zalmi. We planned to allow young talent, especially from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Secondly, I had a lot of fun during my stint with Multan Sultans. It is a professional team with good owners.
Shahid Afridi Is An Expert In Taking U-turn
Shahid Afridi first announced his retirement from Test cricket in 2006. However, he returned within two weeks. Five years later, he retired from international cricket in 2011 after being stripped of the captaincy of the ODI team by the PCB, but he made a comeback after 5 months.
Afridi then retired from ODI cricket in 2012 but continued playing ODIs until the 2015 World Cup. In the year 2017, he formally announced his retirement from international cricket.
PSL To Start in February
PSL 2023 will start on 9 February and be held until 19 March. Afridi has played for a total of 6 franchises in PSL so far. Apart from this, he has also played the role of mentor for Mardan Warriors in the Pakistan Junior League.
Afridi has taken 48 Test wickets in his controversial career; at the same time, he has 395 wickets in ODIs and 98 in T20 Internationals. Not only this, Afridi has scored more than 10,000 runs in international cricket.
