Ruturaj Gaikwad: IPL 2023 has started. Today, i.e. on March 31, a great match is being played between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings. Gujarat captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) did not have a good start; the team got its first blow in the third over itself.
But after this, opening batsman Rituraj Gaikwad, handling another front, thrashed the Gujarat bowlers fiercely. Today he seemed to be batting in a different style. While batting brilliantly in the first match of IPL, Gaikwad was about to hit a century when he fell victim to an umpire’s mistake.
Ruturaj Gaikwad Is Given Out Wrongly!
Before losing the toss, all the batting of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was on the opening pair. But after the dismissal of Devon Conway in the third over, the responsibility fell on Rituraj Gaikwad. He fulfilled this responsibility very well, on the one hand, while the Chennai batters were coming and going at the crease; on the other hand, Ruturaj not only stayed at the crease but also thrashed the Gujarat bowlers fiercely.
Seeing his batting, it seemed that Ruturaj would score a century in the very first match of IPL 2023. But his dream of a century was shattered by an umpire’s decision at the score of 92 runs.
Alzarri Joseph’s high whole toss ball was given straight into the hands of Shubman Gill, standing on the boundary while hitting a six. Gaikwad felt that the umpire would call this ball a no-ball. But he didn’t do that. The matter was 50-50, so Gaikwad did not think it was right to spoil the DRS.

Gaikwad’s Innings Handled CSK
Batting first against Gujarat Titans, the Chennai Super Kings team has reached a powerful position thanks to a brilliant century by opener Ruturaj Gaikwad. Batting first, the Chennai team stood in the beginning. The first wicket fell in the third over itself, followed by the dismissals of Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes soon after.
But Ruturaj Gaikwad kept on taking the innings forward in a rapid manner. Because of his runs, Chennai managed to post a respectable target on the board. Chennai scored 178 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
