BCCI Central Contract List: BCCI released the Central Contract List of male cricketers on March 26. In this, 26 players have been placed in four different categories. Along with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja has been placed at the top in the A+ grade.
Jadeja has come in A plus for the first time. Players included in this category get seven crore rupees annually from BCCI. This amount is separate from the match fee. Those players are kept in A+, whose place in the team of all three formats is almost confirmed.
The BCCI has currently given contracts to players from October 2022 to September 2023. Looking closely, it is known that fast bowler Bumrah has not been able to play a single match so far during this period. Even further, till September, it is challenging to get his game.
Still, he will get Rs 7 crore from the BCCI. Bumrah has been injured since July last year. But he returned in September and played a T20 match against Australia in September 2022. Since then, he has not been able to play any cricket matches.
Bumrah Will Stay Away From Cricket Before The World Cup
Bumrah is troubled by a back problem. To overcome this, he has recently undergone surgery. Due to this, he has been away from the game for about five-six months. It is believed that his return will be from World Cup 2023 only.
This tournament is to be held from October to November. It is reported that the World Cup will start on October 5. By then, the contract BCCI will be completed. It is clear that in the current contract period, Bumrah will not be able to play any match due to injury and recovery. Bumrah is a strong contender to be selected in the playing XI of Team India in all three formats. Perhaps for this reason, they have been placed in the A+ category.
Shardul’s Demotion After Playing 12 Matches
Among the rest of the players, fast bowler Shardul Thakur has been in the playing XI of India’s 11 ODIs and one T20 match since October 2022. He can also play in the World Test Championship final. Captain Rohit Sharma had indicated his inclusion. But Shardul got a demotion in the contract. They have come from grades B to C.
