If Bees Disappear, Humans Will Survive Only For 5 Years, Why Did Einstein Say This?

Albert Einstein is one of the most famous scientists in the world. His words are often shared to motivate people. There are a lot of such posts on social media in which his statement is mentioned. It is even claimed that Einstein had once said that if bees were to disappear, humans would only live for 4 or 5 years. After all, why did he say this? How true is this? Some people asked the same question on the social media site Quora. The answer that came is exciting.

It has been proved in many researches that bees play an essential role in preserving the environment. This is the only organism that does not spread infection. Their role in agriculture is amazing. Due to these, pollination occurs, and many fruits and vegetables can be cultivated. Their pollen helps in the reproduction of plants.

If there are no bees, there will be no pollination. There will be no plants. Organisms dependent on plants will soon start disappearing. Then, there will be no humans because the food cycle will deteriorate. The consequences will be catastrophic, and thousands of species will be destroyed. There will be a crisis for the human species as well. These little soldiers are nature’s sentinels.

There Is No Evidence Of This In The Research

Now, one important thing, whether Einstein said this or not, there is a question about it. Scientists believe that he never said anything like this. Ecologist Michael Pocock of America’s Center for Ecology and Hydrology said there is no evidence that Einstein ever said this. He may have said something like this, which has been presented in a new form. According to Pocock, is it true even if Einstein did not make this statement?

Butterflies and Bats Also Pollinate

Dr. Pocock himself is an expert on bees. He told Forbes to call it bumblebee, not bee. There is an essential difference between the two. However, no such research has proven that if bees are destroyed, all living beings, even humans, will be destroyed in 4-to five days.

As far as Einstein’s statement is concerned, all the fact checks have revealed that no such evidence was found in any book or library that Einstein had said this. The statement that humans will be extinct in 5 days due to lack of bees is not entirely accurate in such a situation. Some users on Quora also expressed similar opinions. One said an organization related to beekeeping made this false claim in 1995. But it is not only bees that pollinate. Butterflies, hummingbirds and even bats do this.
