Heat and Rain Alerts in India, Mercury Rises in Delhi and Rajasthan

The mercury has started rising again after a slight drop in the maximum temperature in Delhi’s national capital. The Meteorological Department has predicted partly cloudy weather, severe heat in many places, dust storms, and light rain in Delhi on Tuesday. Strong winds are also expected to blow at 25 to 35 kilometres per hour. On Tuesday, an ‘Orange Alert’ was issued in the national capital.

Maximum Temperature Rises Again In Rajasthan

Most parts of Rajasthan recorded an increase of one to two degrees Celsius in maximum temperature on Tuesday. According to the Meteorological Department, Ganganagar was the hottest place on Tuesday, at 46.5 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature was recorded above normal in all the state’s major cities. The department has predicted that the temperature will rise in the coming days, and the weather will remain dry.

133-Year-Old Record Of Rain Broken In Bengaluru

Bengaluru received 111 mm of rain on June 2, breaking the 133-year-old record of highest rainfall in a day in June. Due to heavy rains, life was affected in many places in Bengaluru. Residents of Jayanagar shared pictures of fallen trees on social media. Some districts have issued a ‘yellow’ alert until June 5. Heavy rainfall is expected in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada in coastal Karnataka, Bagalkot, Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Koppal and Vijayapura in north Karnataka and Ballari, Bengaluru (rural and urban), Davanagere, Chitradurga, Hassan, Mysore, Tumakuru in south Karnataka in the next two days.

Guidelines For The General Public

The weather agency has issued guidelines for the general public to prevent residents from getting sick due to heatstroke. Stay away from power lines or electric wires. Stay indoors, close windows and doors and avoid travelling if possible. Take safe shelter; do not take shelter under trees. Do not lie on concrete floors or lean against concrete walls.
