UDAN Scheme Started In 2016
The UDAN scheme started in October 2016. It aims to increase regional air connectivity. Its target is to connect 72 airports, including airports with limited service. One of the objectives of this scheme is to make travel affordable for even people from small cities. Air services are also available in places where flight services are unavailable. Under this scheme, the airfare for a one-hour journey of about 500 km is Rs 2,500.
