Sarai Kale Khan Chowk New Name: The name of Sarai Kale Khan Chowk in the country’s capital, Delhi, has been changed. Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan ISBT Chowk will now be known as Birsa Munda Chowk. The central government made this decision on Lord Birsa Munda’s 150th birth anniversary.
Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced the name change at a program in Delhi. Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled the statue of tribal freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda on his birth anniversary, ‘Tribal Pride Day’.
Now, It Will Be Called Birsa Munda Chowk
Khattar said, ‘I am announcing today that the big square outside the ISBT bus stand will be named after Lord Birsa Munda. Seeing this statue and the name of that square, the citizens of Delhi and the people coming to the international bus stand will be inspired by his life.’ Unveiling the Bhagwan Birsa Munda statue on his 150th birth anniversary, Amit Shah praised his contribution to social reforms and courage to stand against ‘conversion’.

Amit Shah Remembered His Contribution
Amit Shah said the country will always be grateful to Birsa Munda for his freedom struggle and movements against conversion. Shah said that when the British ruled the entire country and two-thirds of the world, he showed courage to stand against conversion. He said, ‘We can divide the life of Bhagwan Birsa Munda into two parts. One is protecting tribal culture, and the second is the passion for making the supreme sacrifice for the country’s independence. At the age of 25, he wrote a saga that is remembered even after 150 years.’
Unveiling Of A 3 Thousand KG Statue
Shah unveiled the about 3,000 kg Munda statue on Friday, which was also celebrated as ‘Tribal Pride Day’. Two experienced craftsmen from West Bengal prepared the statue, ensuring its lively form.
