Rajeev Chandrasekhar Says A New Wave of AI Startups to Emerge from Small Towns in India

Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Jal Shakti, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, said on Wednesday that new startups will emerge from small towns in the country.

International Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (iCreate) and Microsoft signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday in the presence of the Minister of State for IT. Its objective is to promote AI startups in India. The signing of the MoU between Microsoft and iCreate marked the launch of the IMPEL program in their partnership. With this, new startups will emerge in Artificial Intelligence and work with Microsoft.

The Minister said that in the coming decade, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called India Teched, a new wave of startups will come, and new startups will also emerge from small towns of the country. He said that India has emerged as a big innovation economy today. In the country’s first wave of startups, many came from cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Gurugram and Chennai.

The Minister of State for IT said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes that the startups that will come in the coming days will also come from small cities. Today, it is being seen that from Surat, Gandhinagar, Indore, Bhopal, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Kohima, A lot of startups are also emerging.”

He said that with this MoU, our youth and youth power will get a very good opportunity to move forward in AI in the coming years. The Minister of State said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said in the GPAI Summit that India has become a major country in changing people’s lives through technology. By using AI, we can bring a big change in many sectors like agriculture, healthcare, education and language translation. We are emphasizing the health sector, education, agriculture and governance in a very focused manner, and we will use the power of AI for the betterment of the people.”
