Today is a very special day for Chandrayaan-3. Pragyan Rover and Vikram Lander will be woken up today after completing 15 days of long sleep on the lunar surface since the Sun will continue to shine on the Moon from tomorrow for the next fifteen days.
ISRO scientists have prepared to wake up the rover and Vikram lander. ISRO scientists say that attempts will be made to reboot the module on Thursday and Friday. Because both the batteries are fully charged in sunlight, ISRO hopes that the rover and Vikram will continue to provide new and mysterious information about the Moon for the next 15 days. In its first 15 days, the rover had discovered many elements, including sulfur, on the lunar surface.
ISRO scientists will attempt to ‘reboot’ the module on Thursday and Friday. This will help increase the expansion possibilities and the missions already completed successfully. The ISRO team hopes the Sun will rise on Friday at Shivshakti Point, where the lander and rover are parked. ISRO Chairman S Somnath said the instruments will be reactivated as soon as the Sun rises.
Sun Will Rise Tomorrow, So Why Will Rover and Vikram Be Woken Up Today?
An attempt to revive Pragyan rover and Vikram lander on the Moon will be made on September 21 and 22 at the time of the moonrise. “We can only hope to see the equipment back to life on September 22,” S Somnath said. Two days have been kept so that preparations can be completed in advance.
Rover and Vikram Have Been Sleeping On The Moon Since September 2.
According to ISRO scientists, before sunset on the Moon, the instruments on Vikram and Pragyan were deactivated in a phased manner. This process started on September 2. However, the module’s batteries, powered by sunlight, were left charged, and the solar panels were placed so that they would receive light during the morning hours.
Right Now, The Temperature On The Moon Is -200 Degrees
After sunset on the Moon, the temperature drops to -200 degrees. Therefore, it would have been a big challenge for the rover and Vikram to work on the Moon in such a situation. There was a danger of the machines getting damaged at such low temperatures. Therefore, ISRO scientists deactivated them and put them to sleep for 15 days.
Now that Rover and Vikram are about to wake up, the eyes of the whole world are once again fixed on the Moon. In its 15-day phase after landing on the Moon, the rover discovered many important elements, including sulfur.
Apart from this, exciting and mysterious pictures of the South Pole of the Moon were also presented, which the world had not seen. ISRO says that if things go as planned, the rover will start moving once the commands are fed into the rover. Later, the same process will be repeated on the lander module.
