Over 3 Lakh E-Challan Penalties Unpaid, Strict Action Imposed

Over three lakh people have not deposited the penalty after the e-challan was issued in the capital. This includes vehicles from different parts of the state coming to Patna. The Transport Department has started taking strict action against those not depositing the e-challan. The issue of making pollution certificates for those who do not deposit the penalty amount has been banned. Action has also been started against commercial vehicles. Private vehicle owners have been given relief now. Such people are being caught in the vehicle checking campaign, and fines are being imposed.

District Transport Officer Upendra Pal said that after the e-challan is issued, the penalty amount must be deposited. Action has been taken against commercial vehicle owners, and now action has also been taken against private vehicle owners. This arrangement has been made to promote road safety by following traffic rules. The Transport Department and Traffic Police are continuously running campaigns.

‘Transport Department Is Running Awareness Campaign’

ADTO Pinku Kumar said that the Transport Department is running an awareness campaign to link your mobile number with your driving license and vehicle certificate. Information is received when a penalty is imposed. When most people go to get a pollution certificate, they get to know that an e-challan has been issued.

Let us tell you that under the Integrated Command and Control System, an automatic challan is being issued to those who break the transport rules in the cameras installed at various places in the city. For riding a bike without a helmet or driving a four-wheeler without a seat belt, an automatic e-challan is being issued from CCTV cameras installed in various parts of the city.

Automatic Challan Is Being Issued Continuously

If a vehicle passes near the Didarganj toll plaza, an automatic e-challan is issued if it has any deficiencies. These include pollution failure, no insurance, and a fitness certificate. A vehicle without insurance passing through the toll plaza is fined two thousand and four thousand rupees if caught for the second time. There is a provision of giving compensation of five lakh rupees after the death of an insured person in a road accident.

For this reason, the fine is being imposed even if there is no insurance at the toll plaza. More emphasis is being given to insurance. After death in a vehicle accident, compensation can be given to the family of the deceased. To curb pollution in the city, strictness is being exercised to obtain vehicle pollution certificates. Vehicle fitness has been made mandatory to reduce accidents. Most e-challans have been issued for bikes.
