Vande Bharat train made with indigenous technology is one of the ambitious plans of Indian Railways. Vande Bharat trains are being operated on different routes in different country states. The name Northeast, i.e., Northeast, will also be added in this episode. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off Assam’s first Vande Bharat Express train today (Monday), May 29, at noon through video conferencing.
The first Vande Bharat Express train to reach Northeast will run from New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal to Guwahati in Assam. The state-of-the-art Vande Bharat Express train will facilitate the region’s people to travel comfortably at a faster speed. This will also give a boost to tourism in the state.
This train connecting Guwahati to New Jalpaiguri will save about one hour in travel time compared to the fastest train connecting these two places. The New Jalpaiguri-Guwahati Vande Bharat Express will run six days a week, covering the distance of 410 km in 5 hours 30 minutes, while the current fastest train takes 6 hours 30 minutes to complete the same journey.
Route and Stoppages
This Vande Bharat train between Guwahati to New Jalpaiguri will stop at 6 stations – New Jalpaiguri and Guwahati Junction, including New Alipurduar, Kokrajhar, New Bongaigaon and Kamakhya station.

What Will Be The Timing?
Starting between New Jalpaiguri and Guwahati, this eight-coach train (Train No. 22227) will run six days a week. The train will depart from New-Jalpaiguri Junction at 6:10 am and reach Guwahati in the afternoon. In return, train number-22228 will leave Guwahati at 4.30 pm and reach New Jalpaiguri around 10.20 pm.
Apart from this, Prime Minister Modi will also dedicate 182 route kilometres of newly electrified railway sections. These will help run the trains at a faster speed, reduce the travel time of the trains, and provide pollution-free transportation. With these, trains running on electric lines can also enter Meghalaya.
Please tell us that this will be the first Vande Bharat train of Northeast and the third Vande Bharat train of West Bengal. The trial run of this train took place on Sunday, May 21, 2023, between New Jalpaiguri to Guwahati. This is the second Vande Bharat train to run from New Jalpaiguri. Earlier, a Vande Bharat was run from New Jalpaiguri to Howrah.
