The national capital’s Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) will now be known as the Prime Minister’s Museum and Society (PMMS). The decision was taken in a special Friday meeting by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. The Congress camp has surrounded the BJP regarding the historical change. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said Modi is another name for narrow-mindedness and vendetta.
On the other hand, former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Manish Tiwari made a scathing attack and said that the heritage does not disappear by renaming the buildings. Whereas the Vice President is Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. At the same time, its members include 29 celebrities, including Union Ministers Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, Dharmendra Pradhan, G Kishan Reddy, and Anurag Thakur.
What Is Its History?
- 1929-30 – Built Teen Murti House was the official residence of the Commander-in-Chief in India.
- 1948 – It became the official residence of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of independent India. He stayed here till his death.
- 1964 – On the 75th birth anniversary of Nehru, then President S. Radhakrishnan dedicated the Teen Murti Bhawan to the nation.
- He inaugurated the Nehru Memorial Museum. Then after two years, the NMML Society was established to manage the institution.
