Jharkhand Cabinet: During a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Jharkhand Cabinet approved 37 proposals, including loan waiver of farmers from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh. Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel said that a proposal to amend the Jharkhand Agriculture Loan Waiver Scheme was approved in the meeting. Under this, the limit of the loan waiver scheme for farmers in the financial year 2024-25 has been increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh.
Under the Jharkhand Agriculture Loan Waiver Scheme, loans of Rs 1,900.35 crore of 4.73 lakh farmers were waived from 2020-21 to 2023-24. The government had announced an agricultural loan waiver of up to Rs 2 lakh. In this regard, a state-level committee meeting was held on June 14. In light of the decision of this meeting, the cabinet has amended the loan waiver scheme.
Rs 750 Crore Likely To Be Spent
Loans up to Rs 2 lakh will be waived in the financial year 2024-25. Its cut-off date has been kept as March 31, 2020. About Rs 750 crore is likely to be spent on this. Meanwhile, the state government has decided to double the honorarium payment to traditional village heads in another initiative.
While Manki and Parganaits will be given an honorarium of Rs 6,000 per month, Munda and Gram Pradhan will be given Rs 4,000, and other traditional village heads will be given Rs 2,000 monthly. The increase in the conventional village honorarium heads is estimated to put an additional Rs 44.79 crore in the government treasury annually.
