Rail Connectivity for Jharkhand, Four More Districts to Get Trains

Good news for the people of Jharkhand. Four more districts of the state—Gumla, Khunti, Simdega, and Chatra—will be connected to the country’s rail network in the coming days. All these districts will come under the Ranchi Railway Division. A plan is to connect Gumla, Khunti, and Simdega districts to the already operational Ranchi-Lohardaga rail route. There is a plan to connect Chatra to the Ranchi-Hazaribagh Road rail route. Jharkhand Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (JRIDCL) completed the survey.

The State Government Sent The Report To The Railway Board

The Jharkhand government has sent this report to the Railway Board for approval. After getting approval from them, the DPR plan will be made. According to the information in the report, work will be done on laying a 55 km rail line from Lohardaga to Gumla, 43 km from Gumla to Simdega, 20 km from Hatia to Khunti, and 42 km from Hazaribagh to Chatra.

People Of Tribal and Naxal Areas Will Benefit

An official of JRIDCL said that people of tribal and Naxal areas will benefit greatly if the above four districts are connected to the rail network. Currently, the only means of transportation for people is the road, and they must spend more time and money travelling. Rail connectivity will also be very beneficial from the business point of view.

Economic Activities Have Not Gained Momentum Due To Lack Of Rail Network

It is known that people living in Simdega have to go to Odisha to catch a train to travel by rail. There, one has to get their berths reserved from Rourkela station. For some special routes, one has to travel from Ranchi. Some local trains are also caught by going to Bano. The same situation applies to the headquarters of Gumla, Khunti, and Chatra districts. Economic activities are not gaining momentum here due to these important cities not being connected to the rail network till now. Reaching these districts through the rail network will also pave the way for employment and progress here.
