Verifying Account Documents

According to reports, some account documents are being verified in the BBC’s finance department. According to sources, the mobile phones of all the employees present in the office were seized during the investigation. Along with this, the computer kept in the accounts department was also scanned.

Apart from this, the team is taking back some laptops, mobiles and desktops. According to sources, all the necessary information will be handed over to the people after collecting the required information.

The London headquarters of BBC has also been informed about the survey. The IT survey comes weeks after the BBC released a documentary ‘India: The Modi Question’ on the Gujarat riots and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, this documentary was banned in India.

BBC Said That They Are Fully Cooperating In The Investigation

If sources are to be believed, IT officers have shared some documents with BBC editors. They have been told that they can survey for three days. However, in this action of IT, it was said on behalf of the company that it is fully cooperating in the investigation.

Giving information about the survey, sources in the BBC Delhi office noted that the Income Tax officials had reached the BBC office at 11 am on Tuesday, and since then, the IT survey has been going on.

Sources in the BBC office said that when the IT officials started their survey at the BBC Delhi office, there was a confrontation between the editors and the officials of the IT department. The editors got into a verbal tussle with IT officials over the fact that they would survey all systems at the BBC Delhi office.

BBC editors told IT executives that they would not give access to any editorial content on their systems. Sources said IT officials found four keywords on the system, including ‘shell company’, ‘fund transfer’, and ‘foreign transfer’ in the computers of the office staff.
