Haryana Government Will Buy All Crops At MSP; Cabinet Approves The Decision

Haryana MSP News: The Haryana government gave the state’s farmers a big gift before the assembly elections. On Monday, the Haryana Cabinet approved the proposal to buy 10 more crops at the minimum support price (MSP). This approval was given a day after the announcement made by state Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini at the ‘Vijay Shankhnad’ rally in Kurukshetra.

On Sunday, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said the state government would buy all the crops at MSP. He also announced the waiver of outstanding irrigation charges from canal water. These announcements were made before the Haryana assembly elections, which will be held later this year.

The Government Is Already Buying 14 Crops At MSP

After chairing a cabinet meeting on Monday, Chief Minister Saini said that the Cabinet has approved the proposal to buy crops at MSP. The state government is already buying 14 crops at MSP.

Now, 24 Crops Will Be Purchased At MSP

At MSP, Saini said the Haryana government will buy 10 more crops, including ragi, soybeans, jowar, and moong. The Chief Minister said this step will promote crop diversification. He said the state government will buy 24 crops in Haryana at MSP.

CM Said This To Punjab, Himachal Government

CM Saini said that Haryana will become the first state in the country to buy all crops at MSP. Saini asked the Punjab government to buy some crops at MSP in response to a question. He also asked farmers from Congress-ruled Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka to buy crops at MSP.

Fee For Irrigation With Canal Water Abolished

Saini said the Cabinet has also approved the proposal to abolish ‘Abiana’ (a fee for irrigation with canal water). He said that from April 1, 2024, ‘Abiana’ will not be taken from the farmers. This step will benefit the farmers by Rs 54 crore per annum.

Saini said on Sunday that the notices for collection of ‘Abiana’ issued after April 1, 2024, will be withdrawn. He also said that if any farmer pays the fee after April 1, that amount will be refunded.
