Drone Flying Rules: In today’s world of technology, the use of drones is increasing rapidly. Drones are being used for making videos, photography, and entertainment. But do you know that there are some terms and conditions for buying and flying drones? It is important to follow these rules to avoid any problems.
What Is Required To Buy A Drone?
Before buying a drone, knowing about the Drone Rules 2021 issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA) and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is important. These rules apply to all citizens except the Navy, Army, and Air Force. After purchasing a drone, you must generate its UIN number from the Digital Sky platform, for which a certificate of eligibility is required.
Restrictions On Places To Fly Drones
Some specific places have been designated for flying drones, and they are divided into three zones: the Red Zone, the Yellow Zone, and the Green Zone.
- Red Zone – Flying drones are completely prohibited here. This includes military areas and the area about 3 km around them.
- Yellow Zone – Permission is required to fly drones in this zone. Here, you can fly drones only up to a maximum height of 400 feet.
- Green Zone – No permission is required to fly drones here, provided you follow the prescribed rules.
Types Of Drones and Weight Limits
Small drones – weighing from 2 to 25 kg.
Medium size – weighing from 25 to 150 kg.
Large drones – weighing from 150 to 500 kg. Drones weighing more than 500 kg are kept under the UAV Aircraft Rules 1937.
Follow all these rules before using a drone to avoid security and legal matters. Flying a drone is fun only when you follow its terms and conditions. Therefore, if you are also considering buying or flying a drone, keep these things in mind.
