The name of Babri Masjid has also been removed from the new NCERT social science book for class 12. Now, in the new book, it is called ‘three-domed structure’. The chapter on Ayodhya has been shortened from four pages to only two. It includes BJP’s Ratha Yatra from Somnath to Ayodhya, the role of kar sevaks, violence after the demolition of Babri Masjid, President’s rule and BJP’s regret over the violence in Ayodhya.
According to the report of The Indian Express, the old textbook mentioned that Babri Masjid was built by Mir Baqi, the commander of Mughal emperor Babar, in the 16th century.
Now, this chapter tells that a three-domed structure was built at the birthplace of Shri Ram in 1528. However, many Hindu symbols were made in this structure. Apart from this, there were idols on the inner and outer walls. The old book told in two pages how mobilization was done after the decision of the Faizabad District Court to open the mosque in 1986. In 1992, Ratha Yatra and Kar Seva for constructing Ram Mandir led to communal tension. After this, communal riots took place in 1993. This time, it has been said that the BJP expressed grief over the events in Ayodhya.
What Is In The New Book
The new book tells that in 1986, the Faizabad District Court ordered the opening of the three-domed structure, and people were allowed to worship. It was believed that this three-domed structure was built on the birthplace of Shri Ram. The foundation stone of Ram temple was laid, but further construction was banned. The Hindu community felt that its faith was being tampered with, and the Muslim community was getting the right to retain the structure. At the same time, after the structure fell in 1992, many critics said this would prove to be a big challenge to the principles of democracy.
The new book includes the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the Ayodhya dispute. It was told that on 9 November 2019, the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court ruled that this land belongs to the temple. Some pictures of newspaper cuttings were put in the old book, which included the order to remove the Kalyan Singh government after the demolition of Babri. It has now been removed.
Let us tell you that the NCERT book has been updated for the fourth time since 2014. In April, NCERT said that changes were made in the chapters and that new things were included based on recent political developments.
