Pig Heart Implanted in Human Patient, Doctors Release Video and Health Update

Exactly one month ago today, a pig heart was transplanted instead of a human heart in Maryland city of America. The name of this person was Lawrence Fawcett. This was the second such case in the world in which an animal’s heart was transplanted into a human body. The same hospital where he underwent a heart transplant has released his video in which he looks fine.

Transplant Was Done On September 20

Let us tell you that Lawrence was suffering from heart-related problems. He could not be given a human heart transplant. Therefore, doctors at the University of Maryland’s Department of Medicine offered to transplant an animal’s heart. Doctors did this transplant on September 20. In the video, Lawrence said he is trying to recover. In America, a person named David Bennett was given a pig’s heart. However, just 2 months after the transplant, his health deteriorated, and he died.

These Changes Were Made After The First Surgery

When the post-mortem of Bennett’s death was done in the hospital, they came to know that he had got an infection due to the pig’s heart, but before Lawrence’s transplant, all the necessary things were done, which were not done at the time of Bennett. Dr Mohiuddin, who is leading the team of doctors doing the transplant, said that his heart is doing everything independently. They are standing on their own. But it will take more time for him to recover.
