A 30-year-old man has died in Japan due to being infected with Mpox. The Health Ministry of Japan has confirmed this. According to the Health Ministry, this is the first death in the country due to Mpox infection.
According to the Health Ministry of Japan, a 30-year-old man living in Saitama Prefecture has died due to mpox. According to news agency Reuters, the ministry said the person was suffering from immunodeficiency. Notably, the World Health Organization (WHO) said MPOX was no longer a global health emergency last May. In such a situation, this latest case in Japan can become a matter of concern.
Monkeypox Was Renamed ‘Mpox’
It is known that Mpox was earlier known as Monkeypox, but in November last year, the World Health Organization (WHO) changed the name of Monkeypox to ‘Mpox’. The first case of mpox in Japan was confirmed in July last year. WHO declared mpox a global health emergency in July 2022.
The infection of mpox, a disease with flu-like symptoms, spreads through direct contact with the affected person, causing flu-like symptoms and pus-filled wounds. Most cases are mild but can be fatal. Symptoms include high fever, headache and rashes. Severe symptoms may last for about two to four weeks.
How Does Mpox Spread?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), this virus spreads due to contact with the body fluids of an infected animal or person, the bite of an infected animal, touching, etc. Rats, squirrels and monkeys mainly spread it.
Ways To Prevent MPOX
To avoid this, one should avoid contacting infected animals, incredibly sick or dead animals. Experts also say all food items containing meat or animal parts should be thoroughly cooked.
