Tata Group: Tata Group has started taking the country forward in chip-making with the Bhoomi Pujan of its Semiconductor Plant in Assam. Tata Electronics will invest Rs 27 thousand crore in this plant. With its help, 27 thousand jobs will also be created. This plant will become operational in 2025. Tata Group said on Saturday that 1000 people from Assam are currently working here. In the future, the company will also try to bring other companies to the semiconductor ecosystem here.
N Chandrasekaran Performed The Bhoomi Pujan Of The Plant
Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran said that after the Bhoomi Pujan program, we will create 15,000 direct and 12,000 indirect jobs through this plant. In addition, our suppliers will also gradually come here. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was present at the event, has termed it a golden moment for the state’s people. The people of Assam will always be grateful to the Tata Group. He assured us that Tata Group would not be allowed to face any problems setting up the plant here.
Assam Chief Minister Said – Our Dream Has Come True
Tata Group will build this plant in Jagiroad in the Morigaon district. The Chief Minister of Assam said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Electronics Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw have fulfilled the dream of bringing this plant to Assam. Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the chips made in this plant will be used in almost every company, including electric vehicles.
Approval Was Received From The Union Cabinet In February 2024
The Union Cabinet approved this semiconductor plant in February 2024. Construction work started within just five months. Most of the technology for making chips here will be from India. This plant will take the country ahead in the semiconductor sector. With the construction of this plant in Assam, talent for this sector will be created from the NITs in the northeastern states. Tata Electronics’ second plant is being built in Dholera, Gujarat. It will start functioning from December 2026.
