BMC Plans Big for Mumbai, More Funds for Roads, Schools, and Waste Management

The annual budget for running Mumbai, one of the largest cities in the country, has become a topic of discussion across the country. On Tuesday, the BMC presented and passed the budget. The BMC budget is Rs 74,427 crore, i.e. about 8.50 billion dollars. Many states of the country do not have such a budget. The special thing is that about 50 countries have a GDP of not even 8.50 billion dollars. These include Montenegro, Maldives, Barbados, Bhutan, Zambia, etc., whose GDP is also visible in Mumbai’s annual budget. Let us also tell you what kinds of things are in the budget of Mumbai and which countries have GDPs less than the budget of BMC.

How Much Is The Budget of BMC

On Tuesday, the richest municipal corporation in the country, BMC, presented a budget of Rs 74,427 crore for 2025-26. The civic body has been under the administrator since the corporators’ term ended on March 7, 2022. According to the agencies entrusted with digging roads, Mumbai IIT will observe the concretization activities in the city. It will be completed by May 31, 2025, to avoid blockages during monsoon. A target has been set to spend 10 per cent of the budget on health services. The BMC plans to start door-to-door health checkups across Mumbai under the Arogya Seva Appli Daari scheme.
