India’s Indigo Orders 500 Airbus Jets, Set To Become World’s Largest Airline

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has described Indigo’s agreement with Airbus to buy 500 A320 aircraft as an important milestone for India. On Tuesday, a minister in the Narendra Modi government expressed confidence that these investments would yield positive results regarding employment opportunities in India.

Jyotiraditya Scindia pointed out that IndiGo’s order for 500 aircraft from a single manufacturer is unique, which will strengthen its position as a leader in the aviation sector. This important decision will not only revolutionize the domestic aviation market. Instead, our country’s economy will also be deeply affected.

Scindia said that first Air India placed orders for 470 aircraft, and now Indigo. This will create new opportunities for growth and employment with every dollar invested in civil aviation. Also, it will make a profit of $3.1.

He said that for every direct job in civil aviation, 6.1 indirect jobs would be created in the sector. This will show the immense dividends accruing from the ever-growing civil aviation sector.
