According to the report released on Sunday, the average size of houses in the country’s seven largest cities was 1,175 square feet in 2022, which increased to 1,300 square feet a year later in 2023. During the last year, while the size of houses has decreased in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Kolkata, homes in Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Pune, and Chennai have increased.

Size Increased Fastest In NCR

According to the report, NCR has seen the highest increase in house size among the seven most prominent cities in the country. The average flat size in NCR was 1,375 square feet in 2022, which will increase to 1,890 square feet in 2023. This means that the average size of houses in NCR has risen by 37 per cent in the last year.

Largest Houses Owned By People In Hyderabad

According to the current average size of houses, among the seven big cities, the most prominent houses are preferred in Hyderabad. Currently, the average size of houses in Hyderabad is 2,300 square feet. After that, NCR is in second place with 1,890 square feet. The average size in Bengaluru is 1,484 square feet, while in Chennai, it is 1,260 square feet. The average size of houses in Pune is 1,086 square feet.

Such Shortages in Mumbai and Kolkata

During this period, the average size of houses in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region was reduced by 5 percent to 795 square feet, compared to 840 square feet a year ago. Similarly, the average flat size in Kolkata reduced by 2 percent from 1,150 square feet in 2022 to 1,124 square feet in 2023.
