Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2023 in Parliament on Wednesday. He has allocated the most significant budget of Rs 2.41 lakh crore to the Railways so far. This will increase the construction of the hydrogen trains, Vande Bharat trains, and infrastructure facilities.
On the budget, the Railway Minister said, ‘This is a big change, and will fulfil the passengers’ aspirations. One thousand two hundred seventy-five stations are being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The production of Vande Bharat trains will be given a facelift. He said, ‘Now, apart from ICF Chennai, Vande Bharat trains will be manufactured at Sonepat in Haryana and Latur in Maharashtra; this will fulfill PM Modi’s dream of connecting every corner with Vande Bharat trains.’

The top speed of the hydrogen train is 140 kmph. Once refueled, this train can run up to 1000 km. It has a fuel cell, which produces energy by mixing hydrogen with oxygen. The emission is only of water and steam, which does not cause any harm to the environment.

Hydrogen train is running in the neighboring country China. Apart from this, it is also being operated in Germany. $ 86 million has been spent on its construction there. According to the report, hydrogen trains in India will replace the trains of the 1950s and 1960s.
