Godrej Group Is About To Announce Family Settlement Soon, Says Report

The division of Godrej Group, one of the oldest business groups in the country, has now been finalized. Ardeshir Godrej laid the foundation of this group in 1897. The market value of Godrej Group is estimated at $4.1 billion. Now, the Godrej family has approved the division of the group. The group companies will be divided between Adi Godrej, Nadir Godrej, Jamshyd Godrej, and Smita Godrej.

Aadi and Nadir Godrej May Get Listed Companies

According to the CNBC Awaaz report, Adi Godrej and Nadir Godrej will have the majority stake in the listed companies under this split. On the other hand, Jamshyd Godrej and Smita Godrej may take control of Godrej & Boyce.

According to the report, this division will be finalized and announced publicly soon. It can also make significant royalty, brand, and land use decisions. Jamshyd Godrej and Smita Godrej can be given the group’s unlisted companies and land bank development. At present, Godrej Group has maintained silence on this.

Godrej & Boyce May Go To Jamshyd and Smita Godrej’s Share

There are five companies listed in Godrej Group. These include Godrej Consumer Products Limited, Godrej Properties, Godrej Industries, Godrej Agrovet, and Astec Lifesciences. These companies can go to Adi Godrej and Nadir Godrej. Godrej & Boyce is a private company. According to the company’s website, about 23 per cent of Godrej Group is with the trust, which spends this money in the fields of environment, health, and education.

Godrej Group’s Business Is Spread In Many Sectors

Godrej Group’s business is spread across engineering, home appliances, security, agriculture, real estate, and consumer products. Godrej Industries Limited, formed in 1897, has a 64.89 per cent stake in Godrej Agrovet, a 23.74 per cent stake in Godrej Consumer Products, and a 47.34 per cent stake in Godrej Properties. Godrej is the largest company in the Consumer Products Group. Its market cap on April 30 was Rs 1.26 lakh crore.
