The government occasionally makes efforts to make airfares cheaper. Still, passengers continue to complain that airlines increase fares drastically on occasions like festivals, weekends, and holiday seasons.
However, today, we will inform you about an air route where you can travel for only Rs 150 as a base fare. You might not believe it after hearing this, but this is true. This route is from Lilabari to Tezpur in Assam. The air journey between these two cities is only 50 minutes.
Fare On 22 routes Is Less Than Rs 1000
Apart from Lilabari to Tezpur, there are many routes where the basic fare is less than Rs 1,000. All these routes are run under the Regional Air Connectivity Scheme. Under this scheme, the airline also gets many types of incentives.
According to the travel portal Ixigo, there are at least 22 such routes where the basic airfare is less than Rs 1,000 per person. The lowest one-way fare for flights connecting Lilabari and Tezpur in Assam is Rs 150. Alliance Air operates flights on this route. Fare Is Between Rs 150 to Rs 199
The basic fare on most routes under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) on these routes ranges between Rs 150 and Rs 199 per person. These are in the north-eastern region. There are also routes in the south, like Bengaluru-Salem and Cochin-Salem, where ticket prices are very low. The basic fare for flights to and from Guwahati and Shillong is Rs 400. The airfare for Imphal-Aizawl, Dimapur-Shillong and Shillong-Lilabari flights is Rs 500. In the case of a Bengaluru-Salem flight, the fare is Rs 525. For the Guwahati-Pasighat flight, it is Rs 999, and for the Lilabari-Guwahati route, it is Rs 954.
Support Is Available Under The UDAN Scheme
These are among those routes where demand is less. It takes more than five hours to reach these places by other means of transport. According to the Airport Authority of India (AAI), 559 routes have been identified under RCS UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) until March 31, 2024. The Central Government, State Governments, and airport operators do not charge any ‘landing’ or ‘parking’ charges for these flights. This service started on October 21, 2016.
